Last updated: 21 October 2026. This policy explains what information RuneDivination.com collects, why, and the choices you have. We collect only what a reading-focused publication needs, and we do not sell your personal information.
At a glance
- We collect what you send us (contact messages, comments) and standard technical data (IP address, browser, pages viewed) through hosting, security and analytics tools.
- We use it to run the site, reply to you, moderate comments, prevent abuse and see which guides help readers.
- Affiliate links set tracking cookies on the partner’s side so they can credit a referral. We do not receive your account details from them.
- We do not offer member accounts or newsletters.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time: [email protected].
1. Who is responsible
RuneDivination.com, 145 Pine Haven Shores Road, Suite 1000, Shelburne, VT 05482, United States, is the data controller for this website. Contact: [email protected].
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact form: your name, email address, subject and message. Used only to reply to you.
- Comments: your name, email address, optional website, the comment text, and the IP address and browser string at posting time (collected by WordPress to help detect spam). Your name and comment are public; your email is not.
Information collected automatically
- Server and security logs: IP address, requested pages, timestamps and browser type, kept by our hosting provider, Cloudflare (delivery and protection) and Wordfence (security).
- Cloudflare performance measurement: Cloudflare Web Analytics helps us understand page views and loading performance. Cloudflare describes this analytics service as cookie-free and separate from its delivery and security services. See Cloudflare Web Analytics information and Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
- Jetpack (Automattic): we use Jetpack for site statistics. Automattic may process technical information such as IP address, browser details, pages and referring URLs, event time and approximate country. Reports shown to the site owner are aggregated; that does not mean no personal data is processed by the provider. See Jetpack Stats privacy information and Automattic’s visitor privacy notice.
- Spam protection: we use Akismet (Automattic) and CAPTCHA checks for both comments and contact-form submissions. Submitted content, contact details and associated technical information may be sent to Automattic for spam assessment, as described in its visitor privacy notice. CAPTCHA checks help protect these features against automated abuse.
3. Cookies
WordPress comment preferences, security tools and Jetpack features may use cookies or similar technologies, depending on the feature and settings. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use analytics cookies; other Cloudflare services may use cookies for security. Embedded third-party content may use its own cookies under that provider’s policy. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, although doing so may affect some features. More information is available in Jetpack’s Privacy Center and Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
4. Affiliate links
Some links lead to reading services that pay us a commission if you sign up. The partner or its tracking network may set a cookie to attribute the referral. We receive aggregate reports, not your name, payment details or reading history. Each partner has its own privacy policy.
5. How we use information
- To publish and maintain the site.
- To respond to messages.
- To display and moderate comments and detect spam and abuse.
- To measure readership and improve guides.
- To comply with legal obligations and establish or defend legal claims.
Where a legal basis is required, we rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure, useful publication, on your consent where you contact us or comment, and on legal obligation where applicable.
6. Sharing
We share data only with providers that help us operate the site (hosting, Cloudflare, Wordfence, Automattic for Jetpack and Akismet, our email provider), with affiliate networks as described above, and when required by law or to protect readers’ or our own rights and safety. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
7. Retention
We retain information for the purposes described in this policy, including handling enquiries, maintaining published comments, preventing abuse and meeting legal obligations. Retention varies by the type of record, service-provider settings and applicable requirements. Published comments may remain with an article unless removed through moderation or a request. Contact us to ask about information connected with your message or comment, or to request its deletion. Some records may need to be retained where permitted or required by law. Service providers’ own retention practices are explained in their privacy notices.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to processing, to portability, and to complain to a supervisory authority. We extend access, correction and deletion to every reader regardless of location. Email [email protected] from the address you used with us, or write to the postal address above. We handle requests in line with applicable privacy law, including any response deadline that applies, and do not treat you differently for making a request. California residents have rights under the CCPA; we do not sell or share personal information as that law defines the terms.
9. International transfers
The site is hosted in the United States. If you visit from elsewhere, your information is processed in the United States. Our providers apply safeguards such as standard contractual clauses where required.
10. Children
The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
The site is served over HTTPS and protected by a web application firewall and security monitoring. Please do not send sensitive information such as health details, payment data or government identifiers through the contact form.
12. Changes
We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The date at the top identifies the current version.
